How we calculate this
- We use the Epley formula: weight × (1 + reps ÷ 30).
- A single rep is your 1RM as is.
- It's the same formula the Rippd app uses for every set you log.
- Loads are rounded to the nearest 2.5 kg (5 lb), so you can load them on a bar.
Your 1RM, updated every set
In the Rippd app, every set you log updates your estimated 1RM for that lift, and your session summary tells you when it goes up.

Is an estimated 1RM accurate?
It's close for most lifters when the set is 3 to 8 reps and taken near failure. It gets less reliable with very high reps.
Should I test my real 1RM?
You don't have to. If you do, warm up well and use a spotter or safety bars.
Is this the same number as the app?
Yes. It's the same formula the Rippd app uses for your estimated 1RM.
Rippd is not medical advice.
